The Local State Archives in Slutsk held a lesson-lecture “The postwar Slutsk in documents and facts” and an exhibition of documents “WE REMEMBER YOUR NAMES”

Within the framework of the Year of Historical Memory and the Archives for School campaign, the archivists of the Local State Archives in Slutsk, Lyudmila Patskevich and Evgenia Bratchenya together with the 4th grade pupils of Secondary School No 2 in Slutsk, their teacher A. A. Belaits and the librarian S. V. Velichko held a lesson-lecture “The postwar Slutsk in the documents and facts” in the reading room of the archives. The exhibition “WE REMEMBER YOUR NAMES”, prepared on the basis of archival documents and photographs, was held in the exhibition hall for schoolchildren.

The event also included a tour of the archival repository, where the students could see rare documents, learn how documents are stored and how to use the archive services.

The archive staff also told the students about the work of the reading room and how the exhibitions of archival documents are prepared.
At the end of the tour, they discussed why it is important to know the history of your city and region, and how important it is to preserve documents of historical significance.
