The Local State Archives in Zhlobin presents a virtual exhibition “Archive on the pages of newspapers…” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Archival Service of Belarus
The exhibition acquires particular relevance in the Year of Historical Memory. One cannot build the future without knowing the past. Any historical fact requires documentary evidence and the archivists can provide it.
The basic mission of the national archival service throughout the entire period remains the work aimed to record, preserve and use the Belarusian archival collections. Two important dates have coincided, which means that our tasks are multiplying, and the archivists are looking for new ways to fulfill them.
We present here the articles from the district newspaper Novy Dzen for a period of 50 years. During this time more than one generation of readers has changed. The newspaper’s name has also changed but the principles of communication with the reader remain the same: responsibility and truthfulness.
The articles are presented in chronological order and concern the activities of the Archive and the archival industry as a whole. The first was written in 1963 (the year when the Archive was created). Besides, contemporary articles are used at the exhibition.
