The State Archives of Gomel Region took part in the dialogue platform “The Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War” at the Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory
On 7 April 2022, the Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory hosted a dialogue platform “The Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War”.
The experts were:
Aleksandr Shinkarev, Deputy Prosecutor of Gomel District; Andrey Sushchevich, Director of the State Archives of Gomel Region; Pavel Denisenko, head of the search club, history teacher of the Gomel Cadet School; Elena Aleksina, Deputy Chairman of the Gomel City Executive Committee.
The Deputy Prosecutor of Gomel District Alexander Shinkarev spoke about the search work that took place in the Chyonki forest at the place of mass burial of civilians.
Andrei Sushchevich shared information about the work to immortalize the burial places of citizens which in Soviet times were not marked in any way and were actually forgotten.
Pavel Denisenko told about the search club “Scarlet shoulder straps” at the Gomel Cadet School.
During the meeting, the experts of the dialogue platform answered many questions about the facts of the genocide of the population during the Great Patriotic War.
At the end of the event, an overview tour of the museum was conducted for the participants of the dialogue platform.
