Opening of the interactive exhibition “Partisans of Belarus” at the International University MITSO
On February 07, 2022, the International University MITSO (International Institute of Labor and Social Relations) hosted the opening of an interactive exhibition “Partisans of Belarus”, based on archival documents of the Internet project of the same name by the publishing house “Belarus Today” and the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, photographic materials of the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings.
The exhibition was opened by Yuri Kovalenok, Rector of the International University MITSO, who noted the importance of the joint project in the patriotic education of young people.
Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Demyanyuk told in his speech about the work to identify and scan archival documents for posting them on the Internet portal. 186,200 personal data on partisans and underground fighters have already been submitted. We understand the importance of the work we do. Our task is to perpetuate the memory of the heroes who fought against Nazism. We must not only carefully preserve every document from those times, but also make it accessible to everyone. People must know as much as possible about our history, about the history of the Partisan movement. We must remember the atrocities of the Nazis on our land.
Ivan Sinichkin, Deputy Director – Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house “Belarus Today” noted that there are many ideas to update the format, to present other materials from the archive’s holdings. Among them are cartographic charts, maps and samples of Partisans’ creative work – combat newspapers and leaflets.
More than 300,000 users have visited the Partisans of Belarus Portal since it was launched.
The exhibition visitors could see award lists, combat characteristics and personal photos of partisans and underground fighters who defended our Motherland. A traditional interest for teachers and students was a multimedia stand that helped everyone find his heroic ancestor among partisans and underground fighters, find out what partisan group or brigade he belonged to, and also see scanned documents of personnel records, award lists, characteristics, etc.
In 2022, the Year of Historical Memory, the interactive exhibition “Partisans of Belarus” will continue its journey through the educational institutions of the country.
