Classes on the history of the Great Patriotic War for schoolchildren at the State Archives of Brest Region

On January 19, 2022, as part of the information and educational project “School of Active Citizen” to study the history of the Great Patriotic War, the State Archives of Brest Region conducted classes on “Nazi policy of genocide, robbery and violence. 1941-1944” for 9th grade students at the Secondary School in Domachevo.

An exhibition of documents reflecting the policy of genocide during the German occupation in Brest Region was organised for the class.

The director of the archive A. G. Karapuzova told about the documents of the German occupation authorities in 1941-1944 and the documents of the Extraordinary State Commission for Establishing and Investigating Nazi Crimes and Damage in Brest Region, which are valuable sources to study the history of Brest Region during the occupation.

The lecture was also delivered by E. I. Pashkovich, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, head of the Department of General History at the Pushkin Brest State University.

In addition, the students were given a tour of the archive, during which they got acquainted with its work, visited the laboratory for the repair and restoration of archival documents, the archival depository, the museum of the history of the archive, learned about the modes of document storage, the composition of the archive documents.
