The Classic Writer of Belarusian Literature Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich

About the project

The Classic Writer of Belarusian Literature Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich page is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Belarusian writer, one of the founders of the new Belarusian literature and the national dramatic art.

The page includes four sections:

  • An overview of Dunin-Martsinkevich’s life and work.

  • Summary information on the first editions, including a picture of the book’s cover and annotation.

In all, 15 editions are presented (8 books of collected poetry and versed stories, 3 dramatic works (plays), 1 book with translation, and 3 books of collected works).
  • A survey of Belarusian and foreign collections which contain records relating to the writer’s life and work.
  • An online exposition of documents relating to Dunin-Martsinkevich.

In all, on display are 140 textual records, photographs and sound recordings (electronic copies of primary sources) organised by 8 topics illustrating various aspects of Dunin-Martsinkevich’s life and creative work. The source materials are selected from four state archives in the Republic of Belarus — the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (68 records), the National Historical Archives of Belarus in Minsk (60), the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings (11), and the National Historical Archives of Belarus in Grodno (1).

The survey of documents and the article on Dunin-Martsinkevich’s life and work are prepared by teamwork of the Belarusian Research Center for Electronic Records with the assistance from the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus.
