Archivists from the Gomel, Bryansk and Chernigov regions met near the Friendship Monument at the border of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, 25 June 2010

On 25 June 2010, the archivists from the Gomel, Bryansk and Chernigov regions met near the Friendship Monument at the border of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. Held as part of the international festival “Friendship-2010”, this year’s meeting was organised by the Ukrainian side headed by the director of the State Archives of Chernigov Region, R. B. Vorobei. The Belarusian delegation was headed by the director of the State Archives of Gomel Region, P. M. Cherny.

The events included a round table “We Won Together” dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. The participants discussed the archive publications on the subject, presented documentary exhibitions, thematic lists of records relating to the war, etc.

The director of the State Archives of Gomel Region presented to his colleagues two documentary editions published on the occasion of the jubilee date “The Gomel Region in the First Months of the Great Patriotic War” and “The Gomel Region and Partisans. The Beginning, June 1941 – May 1942”.

The round table also exhibited several virtual exhibitions of documents on the topic of the Second World War and the German Occupation in Belarus, which were prepared by the Gomel Region Executive Committee, the State Archives of Gomel Region, and the Local State Archives in Mozyr.

The next annual meeting of archivists at the international festival “Friendship-2011” will be organised by the Russian side.
