Professional meeting of Belarusian archivists with representatives of China’s HAOBO security company at the National Archives
On 20 August 2018 the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus hosted a professional meeting between Belarusian archivists and representatives of China’s HAOBO security company. The Belarusian side included First Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management O. Biryukova, Director of the National Archives A. Demyanyuk, Deputy Director of the National Archives E. Kushnova, the Department’s Consultant for National Archival Fonds T. Stolina, Deputy Director of the Belarusian Research Center for Electronic Records L. Signevich.
The Chinese side was represented by Haobo Chairman of the Board Tsyan Bo and Chief of the Department for Foreign Relations Fan Datsin.
The HAOBO Security and Technologies is a famous service provider and operator in archives preservation and electronic digitization and offers a wide range of service for both private and government institutions, including the state archives of China. The main aim of their visit to Belarus is to examine practices of Belarusian archivists in creation of electronic archives and digitization of paper records, and to learn the perspectives of opening a center for records digitization in this country.
The Chinese delegation showed special interest in records preservation at the Belarusian archives. Mr Tsyan Bo and Fan Datsin visited one of the storage facilities at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus.
The Belarusian delegation shared their experience in records preservation, the delivery of records from storage facilities, about the amount of records scanning and digital preservation, etc.
The sides discussed the perspectives of possible cooperation in the field of archives digitization.
