Regional workshop on Modern Requirements to Records Management and Archives, Gomel

On 7 August 2014 a regional information and training workshop on Modern Requirements to Records Management and Archives was held by the Center of Scientific-Technical and Business Information at Gomel, Belarus.

The main objective of the workshop is to provide practical teaching and to prevent violations in the sphere of archive business and records management in accordance with the current legislation.

The participants were informed of the recent methodical documents and procedural guidance developed by the Belarusian Research Institute of Records Management and Archival Science (BelNIIDAD) for personnel officers, clerks, secretaries, assistant heads, records managers and archive specialists in institutions.

In the first part of the workshop the listeners acquainted with the procedure of making draft orders and directives on personnel and the main activity, file classification plans in institutions and their subdivisions. In detail, using the specific examples, they studied the issue of preparing blank forms for letters of general and specif types for government and non-government institutions.

Of especial interest was the second part of the workshop on the topic of “The book of comments and proposals. Recordkeeping and procedures for handling inquiries from citizens and legal entities. The specifics of handling inquiries sent by electronic mail. Execution and registration of answers. Storage time for inquiries and answers”.

The director of the State Archive of Public Organisations of Gomel Region, Natalia Abramova, prepared multimedia presentations on the above topics.
