«Turov Autumn» in Mogilev: Unique Archival Documents Presented at the Rodina Cinema
On October 25, 2026, a commemorative evening was held at the Rodina Cinema in Mogilev to mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of the legendary Belarusian film director and People’s Artist of the USSR, Viktor Timofeyevich Turov. The event, which launched the traditional annual «Turov Autumn» film week, brought together the director’s colleagues, loved ones, and numerous admirers.
A highlight of the evening was a thematic exhibition titled «The Turov Family and Their Legacy in Archival Documents», prepared by the State Archive of the Mogilev Region. The materials on display—dating from the pre-war years, the Great Patriotic War, and the period of Nazi occupation—shed light on the Turov family and their historical ties to Mogilev. Attendees, including the director’s children, Artem and Elena Turov, had the opportunity to explore these rare archival sources.
These historical records reveal details of the director’s life and offer insight into how the hardships of the war years shaped the creative style of the man who would become a classic figure in Soviet cinema.
