«The Country’s Strength Lies in Unity»: Patriotic Events Marking National Unity Day Held at the Gomel Region Archive of Public Associations
On September 15–16, 2026, the «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» hosted a series of patriotic events titled «The Country’s Strength Lies in Unity», dedicated to National Unity Day.
Participants included students from the Gomel State Culinary College, the Gomel State Machine-Building College, and the Gomel State College of Transport and Transport Communications.
As part of these patriotic gatherings, screenings of the documentary film «Reunification»—produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents under the national «Open Film Archive» project—were organized for the students.
Archive staff provided a detailed overview of the key historical background and the momentous significance of September 17, 1939. Special attention was paid to the events that represented an act of supreme historical justice: the reunification of Western and Eastern Belarus. This event put an end to the forced division of the Belarusian nation and laid the foundation for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the modern Belarusian state.
The program concluded with a viewing of current exhibitions featuring archival documents and guided tours of the archive’s storage facilities.
