Presentation at the scientific and practical conference «Dokshynskyi Krai: Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Region»

Elena Ivanovna Tretyak, Leading Archivist of the Document and Information Management Department of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, presented a report and a demonstration of photographic and film documents during the scientific and practical conference «Dokshynskyi Krai: Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Region», held June 11-12, 2026, in Dokshitsy.

The conference was organized by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Dokshitsy District Executive Committee. Representatives of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the National Historical Archives of Belarus, Vitebsk State Technological University, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local History, the Euphrosyne of Polotsk Polotsk State University, the Minsk Theological Seminary, school teachers, and many others participated in the conference. More than 60 papers were presented on the history, archeology, architecture, local history, linguistics, and toponymy of the Dokshitsy region.

Conference participants visited the Shunevka memorial complex and laid flowers at the foot of the «Curse of Fascism» monument. On the opening day of the conference, participants viewed the exhibition «Generation of Peace on War and Peace», organized by the State Museum of the History of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.

On June 11, 2026, during the «Dokshitsky Region from 1917 to the Present» section, Elena Ivanovna Tretyak, leading archivist at the Department of Documentation and Information Management at the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Sound Documentation Archive, presented a paper entitled «Audiovisual Documents Testify – Ulyana Feoktistovna Kristalevich in the Archive Materials of the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Sound Documentation Archive». The paper was accompanied by a photo presentation. At the end of the paper, a fragment of the documentary film «Dokshitsky Karavai» (1972) was shown to the section participants.

On June 12, 2026, as part of the conference, participants visited the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Parafyanovo and the Church of St. John the Baptist in the village of Volkolaty, as well as the 18th-century estate and park complex that belonged to the Domeyko family in the village of Chintz and the site of archaeological excavations near the village of Nebyshino, Dokshitsy District.
