Opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Belarusian branch of VNIITE

An exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Belarusian branch of the All-Union Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics (BF VNIITE) has opened at the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation.

BF VNIITE was established in Minsk by Order No.525 of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the USSR dated May 27, 1966, and Order No.43 of the All-Union Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics dated June 1, 1966.

The institution became the main coordinating and design center for industrial design in the BSSR, playing a key role in improving the aesthetic quality of goods and developing a national school of artistic design.

The main goal of the VNIITE Branch was to develop methods for the artistic design of mechanical engineering products and consumer goods, as well as to coordinate related research and development work.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the Belarusian branch flourished, assembling a strong team of professionals. VNIITE Branch became the leading center for agricultural machinery design in the Soviet Union.

After the collapse of the USSR, the institute began a new chapter in its history. On March 17, 1992, VNIITE Branch was transformed into the Belarusian Institute of Design. On October 16, 1995, the institute was reorganized into the National Design Center State Enterprise, which in June 2000 acquired the status of a Scientific and Production Republican Unitary Enterprise. It ceased operations in 2008.

The exhibition features prototypes of equipment for social and cultural facilities, as well as consumer goods, mechanical engineering and instrument-making products, medical equipment, vehicles, tractors, and agricultural machinery.
