On May 20, 2026, a roundtable discussion entitled «Assessment of the Value and Acquisition of Scientific and Technical Documentation in State and Municipal Archives» was held

The roundtable discussion was organized by the Federal Archival Agency (Rosarkhiv) and the All-Russian Research Institute of Document Science and Archival Affairs (VNIIDAD). Representatives of archival institutions from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the State Tretyakov Gallery participated in the event. Representatives of the Republic of Belarus participated in the roundtable discussion via videoconference from the Belarusian Research Institute of Document Science and Archival Affairs (BelNIIDAD) and the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation (BGANTD).

Eight papers were presented and discussed at the roundtable discussion:

— the current state and challenges of acquiring scientific and technical documentation for state and municipal archives;
— experience interacting with acquisition sources;
— identification and acceptance of regulatory and technical documentation in government agencies’ collections;
— criteria for assessing the value and organizing regulatory and technical documentation from different periods;
— systematization of research and development (R&D) in compiling case inventories;
— prospects for acquiring archives of regulatory and technical documentation generated by non-governmental and related organizations.

The presentations generated keen interest among the participants, and the discussion allowed them to identify problematic issues in acquiring archives of regulatory and technical documentation. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for acquiring electronic documents created using computer-aided design systems (2D drawings, 3D models) for state archives.

The roundtable participants highly praised the event, emphasized the importance and relevance of the issues discussed, and expressed gratitude to the organizers and speakers.
