On the eve of Victory Day, a commemorative event was held at the State Archives of the Minsk Region

Victory Day is one of the most important holidays in our history, symbolizing the fortitude and courage of the Soviet people. On this May day, we pay tribute to veterans and remember those who gave their lives to give us the right to a future.

The State Archives of the Minsk Region organized an event for the youth activists of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) on the eve of Victory Day, featuring a banner documentary exhibition, «While Memory Lives», featuring unique materials from the archive’s collections.

The central feature of the event was the documentary film «Brest Fortress – Hero», produced by the Belarusian State Archives of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

The main goal is to preserve the memory of the heroism of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, whose courage in the first hours of the war determined the outcome of the struggle for the independence of our country. Watching the film allowed the young professionals not only to expand their historical knowledge but also, through the lens of newsreels, to understand the importance of their work in preserving national memory.
