Lessons for students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.7 named after S.O. Pritytsky in Grodno» as part of the «Archives for Schools» campaign at the State Archives of the Grodno Region

On January 27, 2026, as part of the «Archives for Schools» campaign, the State Archives of the Grodno Region held two lessons for 9th-grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.7 named after S.O.Pritytsky in Grodno» on the topics «The Role of Archives in Preserving Historical Heritage» and «The Tragedy of Civilians during the Great Patriotic War».

Archives staff briefed the students on the history of archival work in the region, described the main areas of the archive’s work and the sources of its acquisitions, and also demonstrated the most interesting and valuable documentary materials from the archival collections, emphasizing their historical and cultural significance.

During a lesson on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, students were presented with documents from the Regional Commission for the Investigation and Establishment of Crimes and Atrocities of the Nazi Invaders: damage reports, eyewitness testimonies, and lists of exterminated citizens and settlements.

At the end of the lesson, students visited a document restoration, binding, and repair laboratory, as well as an archival repository.
