On the holding of the Republican (with international participation) student conference «Partisan Archive. II Children’s Partisan Readings» at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus
On December 11, 2025, the Republican (with international participation) student conference «Partisan Archive. II Children’s Partisan Readings» was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter NARB). The conference was organized by NARB, the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (hereinafter BSAFPD), and the Belarusian Society of Archivists, with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.
The conference was attended by senior students (grades 9-11) from sponsored schools, gymnasiums, and colleges of the republican archival institutions, as well as schoolchildren from district (Dzerzhinsk) and regional (Vitebsk and Gomel) educational institutions. The international component included students from Yekaterinburg, Petrozavodsk, and the Perm Krai (Russian Federation).
O.L.Voinov, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. He noted the importance of holding this event for preserving the historical memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War and fostering a sense of patriotism and pride in the younger generation of Belarusians. Oleg Leonidovich emphasized that the conference has grown in both numbers and geographic representation and expressed confidence that this growth trend will continue next year.
S.M.Klishevich, Member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and member of the Commission on Education, Culture, and Science, spoke about the extensive work being done to preserve historical memory in our country and encouraged the participants to treat our heroic history with love and respect.
A.G.Kokhanovsky, Dean of the Faculty of History at the Belarusian State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, noted the close collaboration between the Faculty of History, educational institutions, and archives in many areas of work and expressed the hope that the conference participants will be among the future students of the Faculty of History.
I.V.Musledinova, a history and social science teacher at Minsk Gymnasium No.21, spoke about the extensive collaboration between the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus and the gymnasium as part of the nationwide «Archives for Schools» campaign.
NARB Director A.K. Demyanyuk wished the conference participants good, productive work, interesting presentations, and new discoveries. He also presented a Certificate of Gratitude from the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus to I.V. Musledinova for her active participation in the nationwide «Archives for Schools» campaign and her significant contribution to popularizing the documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus.
The films «Ashes of Childhood» and «The Valiant Komsomol of Belarus», presented by the BGAKFFD, were shown to conference participants, as well as the video «We Remember, We Are Proud…», prepared by NARB archivists using artificial intelligence technologies. Conference participants and guests were given tours of the «Republic – Partisan» exhibition, as well as archival repositories of documents from the Great Patriotic War and personal collections.
The conference continued with a breakout session, where students presented papers on the following topics: «I Am from a Partisan Family»; «The Partisan Movement in the Occupied Territory of Belarus During the Great Patriotic War»; «My Heroic Ancestors (on Participation in the Great Patriotic War)»; «The Genocide of the Belarusian People During the Great Patriotic War»; and others.
Following the conference, all students were awarded certificates of participation and collections of documents from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB) «Surazh Gate: The Main Land and the Partisan Movement of the BSSR».
