Mogilev Region State Archives Staff Participate in the Regional Conference «Genocide of the Belarusian People During the Great Patriotic War»

On December 9, 2025, the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide, Honoring Their Dignity, and for the Prevention of This Crime, the regional conference «Genocide of the Belarusian People During the Great Patriotic War» was held at A.A.Kuleshov Mogilev State University.

Public figures, historians, teachers, and students attended the event. Conference speakers included Igor Marzalyuk, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture, and Science of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Professor; Andrei Volkov, Deputy Prosecutor of the Mogilev Region; and Alexandra Burakova, Deputy Director of the E.R.Romanov Mogilev Regional Museum of Local History.

Staff of the State Archives of the Mogilev Region presented a banner exhibition, «Again, Let’s Look Closer to the Past», to conference participants, along with copies of documents from archival collections dedicated to the period of the Nazi occupation of the Mogilev region and the genocide of the Belarusian people. The documents included orders and instructions of the occupation authorities of Mogilev and Babruisk for 1941-1944; information collected after the liberation of the Mogilev Region by the Extraordinary State Commission for the Establishment and Investigation of the Atrocities of the Nazi Invaders and Their Accomplices; and screening files on Soviet citizens deported to forced labor in Germany. The materials presented sparked keen interest among the event’s guests.
