Virtual Exhibition «New Beginning: Minsk After the War»

During the Great Patriotic War, 80% of Minsk’s urban infrastructure and housing stock were destroyed, along with major industrial enterprises. Of the nearly 300,000 residents who lived in Minsk before the war, only 45,000-50,000 remained.

But despite the dire circumstances, it was decided to restore the capital of the Byelorussian SSR. The fruitful and dedicated work resulted in the rebuilding of Minsk, which to this day stands as an example of the people’s labor heroism.

As part of the «Cities of Belarus» project, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus presents the virtual exhibition «New Beginning: Minsk After the War».
