BGAMLI staff participated in the «Kalasaviny» festival. Yakub Kolas’s memory was honored in Stolbtsy

On November 1, 2025, on the 143rd anniversary of the birth of the People’s Poet of Belarus, Yakub Kolas, the Stolbtsy region traditionally gathered fans of the great classic for the annual «Kalasaviny» festival. Among the honored guests and active participants were staff of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), led by Director E.A.Makarenko.

The ceremonial events honoring the outstanding writer began with the laying of flowers at the Yakub Kolas monument in Stolbtsy. Here, in the town’s central square, residents and numerous guests who had come to honor the classic’s memory addressed the gathering to once again recall the invaluable contribution of the Belarusian poet to national culture and emphasize the importance of preserving his literary and spiritual heritage for future generations. E.A.Makarenko addressed the audience. She emphasized the role of archival institutions in the careful preservation of documents—manuscripts, letters, and photographs—which are living testament to an entire era and the creative path of Yakub Kolas.

After laying flowers, the «Kalasavyn» participants continued their journey through the iconic sites of the Kolas region. They toured the Akinchitsy memorial estate museum, where the poet spent his early years, and the Albut memorial estate, a place that inspired many of his famous works. At the end of the tour of memorable sites, the participants laid flowers at the bust of Yakub Kolas in the village of Mykolaivshchina.

The «With the Music of Kolas» festival, held at the Starosverzhensky Cultural Center, brought the festive day to a pleasant close.

The participation of BGAMLI staff in the «Kalasaviny» festival was a testament to the respect for the legacy of Yakub Kolas and the archive-museum’s commitment to actively promoting Belarusian literature. It is through the fruitful collaboration of archivists and museum staff that we can preserve and pass on priceless memories to future generations.
