23rd Archival Readings at the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art

On October 16, 2025, the 23rd Archival Readings «Cooperation in Preserving Social Memory» were held at the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI). The event was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI). Twenty archival and museum specialists and university professors from Minsk, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Zhlobin, Dzerzhinsk, and Glubokoye participated. The main topics of discussion included expanding approaches to the use of archival materials for the study of Belarusian historical heritage, the application of cutting-edge technologies, and improving the work of archivists.

In her welcoming address to the conference participants, E.A.Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum (BSAMLI), spoke about the past and present of the archive-museum and the importance of preserving and expanding interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary connections. M.F.Shumeiko, Professor of the Belarusian State University, analyzed the role of modern archives in preserving historical memory in his plenary address. A.V.Zapartyko, Honorary Archivist and former Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum (BSAMLI), recalled the history of the «Archival Readings», which have been held at the Belarusian State Archives and Museum since 2002, and the renowned figures in science and culture who participated in them. The most discussed topics in the panel presentations were the use of cutting-edge technologies in archival science, including artificial intelligence, improving forms of interdisciplinary interaction, and the use of archival documents in the study of Belarus’s historical heritage.

Participants of the 23rd Archival Readings spoke in favor of developing a methodology and techniques for applying artificial intelligence in archival work, as well as further fruitful collaboration between archives and cultural and educational institutions.
