Documentary exhibition «Theatre where dreams are born»

On September 11, 2025, the documentary exhibition «Theatre where dreams are born» opened at the Belarusian State Academic Theater for Young Spectators. The exhibition was organized by the Belarusian State Academic Theater for Young Spectators, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus as part of the opening of the 70th anniversary season of the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus «Belarusian State Academic Theater for Young Spectators».

What is a theater for young spectators? This is the first visit to the theater in your life, which makes your heart stop. This is the place where you first touch the great power of art, where a fairy tale becomes a legend, and complex stories about love, friendship and choice help you understand yourself and the world around you. For 70 years, the theater for young spectators has been delicately and boldly conducting a dialogue with new generations, becoming their guide to the world of eternal values and relevant meanings.

This exhibition is a detailed and fascinating story about the life of the theater, told through the prism of archival documents and fiction books. The viewer can travel back in time decades, see how the repertoire changed, but the main mission of the theater remained unchanged – to be an important tool in the formation of the personality of a child. Here, the performances that laid the foundation for legendary productions are adjacent to critical articles in magazines, official reports on tours and touching documents of the post-war revival of the theater in 1955.
The exhibition is presented in two sections: pages of the history of the theater and a repertoire chronicle. At the exhibition you can see books about the foundation and activities of the theater, photographs of the building, materials related to the architects of the Youth Theater building – A.Voinov and L.Usava, literary sources of iconic productions of different years, as well as archival materials – regulations, orders, a repertoire plan and others. Each document is not just a testimony of time, but also a living voice of those who dedicated their entire lives to serving a great cause – the birth of dreams in children. This is a story told not in words, but in real artifacts, each of which preserves the warmth of the hands and the energy of the era of its creators.
