On holding a board meeting of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus

On June 30, 2025, a board meeting of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the Department) was held. Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Nikolaevich Kot took part in the board meeting.

The following issues were considered at the board meeting:

1. Reports of the heads of state archival institutions on the progress of cooperation activities with state archival institutions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2. On the information activities of the Department and state archival institutions.

Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management A.E.Tsvetkov, preceding the reports of the heads of state archival institutions on the progress of cooperation activities with state archival institutions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted that this issue is strategically important for the further development of the archival industry of the Republic of Belarus and the radius of cooperation will expand annually.

The board heard reports from the directors of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus A.K.Demyanyuk, the National Historical Archives of Belarus M.M.Glushakov, and the Belarusian State Archives of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents A.N.Gonchar.

Director of the Department O.L.Voinov, summing up the consideration of the first issue, noted that significant work is being carried out by the republican archival institutions in this direction. At the same time, it was noted that cooperation with state archival institutions of the Russian Federation should be established at the regional level.

Speaking on the second issue, the head of the department for the use of documents, ideological work, and international cooperation Yu.V.Baidanova noted that modern archival institutions actively interact with the media and use social networks and messengers to popularize their activities.

The following areas of work were considered in detail:

– publications in printed periodicals, including on their electronic resources, participation in television and radio programs
– informing about the work of archival institutions and popularization of archival documents through Internet resources and social networks.

Co-speakers on the second issue were the directors of the Belarusian Center for Digitalization of Archival Activities D.V.Shabrov, the State Archives of the Brest Region A.G.Karapuzova, the Zonal State Archives in Orsha O.M.Bergovina.

A.G.Karapuzova shared her experience of active interaction with the Brest television channels TRK Brest, Bug-TV, Laguna-TV, and the republican television channels BT-1 and Stolichnoe Televidenie.

Commenting on the information presented, the Director of the Department O.L.Voinov focused on the basic principles of working with information, algorithms for covering departmental and national agendas. In his speech, O.L.Voinov recalled the need to intensify the preparation of thematic video stories, publications for electronic and print media about the activities of archives in order to improve their image in the eyes of the public.

O.L.Voinov noted that, in general, information activities in the archival industry are carried out on a systematic basis. A number of organizational and practical measures carried out in 2024 – the first half of 2025 made it possible to achieve certain successes in improving the work on interaction with the media.

At the same time, archival institutions should pay attention to a number of points: active cooperation with the industry scientific and practical journal «Archives and Records Management» and organizing a subscription to it, as well as providing support for the initiative projects of their colleagues.

The members of the board recognized the work of state archival institutions on the agenda items as satisfactory.
