On the visit of the employees of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» to the memorial complex «Lupolovsky death camp» in Mogilev

As part of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on 07.05.2025, employees of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» laid flowers at the memorial in memory of the Soviet prisoners of war and civilians who died in the concentration camp. The memorial complex was opened on the site of the Lupolovsky death camp «Stalag 341», created by the Nazi occupiers in the fall of 1941. By the spring of 1943, up to 40 thousand people had died of disease or were shot here.

The complex was conceived in such a way that the imagination would return us to the terrible time when the Nazis turned the city outskirts into a real hell. In Stalag, Soviet prisoners of war and underground fighters were starved, tortured, and shot. Surrounded by barbed wire and electrified, it became a cemetery for thousands of people.

Only by preserving the memory of those terrible events and paying tribute to those who died and survived in that hell can we hope that something like this will never happen again in human history. Preserving their memory is the sacred duty of everyone.
