The «Young Archivist» campaign at BGAMLI
On March 21, 2025, the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) hospitably opened its doors to future historians and archivists. As part of the «Young Archivist» campaign, the archive-museum was visited by ninth-grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.2 of Minsk» – members of the «Friends-Archivists» circle.
The excursion became part of the career guidance work of BGAMLI and was aimed at young people considering the possibility of entering the history department. The head of the information, publication and use of documents department V.V.Birulya spoke about the main functions of a modern archive-museum and introduced the valuable documentary materials of BGAMLI. The students learned about the secrets kept in the personal letters, diaries and manuscripts of famous Belarusian writers, artists and composers. In the reading room of the archive-museum, schoolchildren were interested in the exhibitions dedicated to significant dates and figures of Belarusian culture: the exhibition «Life. With such cunning reasons…», dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the People’s Poet of Belarus Ryhor Baradulin, and the exhibition «At the Holy Footlights: Great Patriotic War on the Theater Stage…», dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the People’s Artist of the USSR Rostislav Yankovsky.
After the excursion, the students shared their positive impressions and expressed sincere gratitude to the staff of the BGAMLI for an interesting and informative excursion.
