On the occasion of Cosmonautics Day, the Zonal State Archives in Novogrudok held meetings with students
On the eve of Cosmonautics Day, as part of the Archives for School campaign, the Zonal State Archives in Novogrudok held events dedicated to the memorable date of the first manned space flight – on April12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin made an orbital flight around planet Earth on the Vostok spacecraft, which lasted 108 minutes.
Pupils of grades 5-6 of the secondary school №1 of Novogrudok got acquainted with a documentary stand exhibition in the reading room of the state archive, dedicated to the Cosmonautics Day, the documents and photographs of which tell about the history of the holiday, the first flights into space of Belarusian pilots-cosmonauts, as well as the development and achievements in the space industry at the present stage. Schoolchildren learned about the streets of the city of Novogrudok, named after famous cosmonauts.
The documentary exhibition was also demonstrated in the secondary school №3 of Novogrudok named after V.G.Gakhovich.
During the events, screenings of the film «Space is Ours», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, were organized.
