The zonal State Archive in Rechitsa presents a document on the assignment of Rechitsa Street named after Marshal of the Soviet Union I.S.Konev

This event took place exactly 51 years ago, almost six months after the death of the famous commander of the Great Patriotic War. By decision No. 251 of the Executive Committee of the Rechitsky City Council of Workers’ Deputies of November 15, 1973 (F. 342. Op. 1. d. 217. L. 427), the Cooperative Street changed its name to the street named after Marshal of the Soviet Union, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Czechoslovakia, Hero of Mongolia Ivan Stepanovich Konev (1897-1973).

This step was not accidental, since even before the war Konev’s life turned out to be connected with the city above the Dnieper. In the 1930s, he commanded the 37th Infantry Division, which was transferred to Rechitsa to strengthen the border district, since the Soviet-Polish border passed beyond the Mozyr. From December 1934 to March 1937, Commander Konev lived in an apartment building on Sovetskaya Street, 1, on which a commemorative plaque is currently installed.
