On the visit to the exhibition of books from the personal collection of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko by the employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region»

On July 26, 2024, as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Institute of the Presidency of the Republic of Belarus, employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region» visited the exhibition of books from the personal collection of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko, donated to the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus in honor of its 90th anniversary.

The collection includes over 160 copies and is represented by both publications from the early 19th century and modern ones, reflecting the political, historical, cultural and spiritual development of the people of Belarus and the CIS countries. The exhibition in the Mogilev Regional Library «Gift of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko to the Presidential Library» presents 97 books.

For Mogilev residents, perhaps the most interesting is the 1784 reprint of the «Atlas of the Mogilev Viceroyalty, Consisting of 12 Cities and Counties» – with unique information about the Mogilev region in different years of the 18th century – the number of settlements, monasteries, churches, cathedrals, forest lands. A unique, impressive-sized edition was presented to A.G.Lukashenko in December 2022 by the State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev. The head of our state owns copy number 1, and the total circulation of the publication is only 30 copies. For contemporaries, the «Atlas of the Mogilev Viceroyalty» is of great historical and cultural value.

The pearl of the spiritual literature block is the «Bible of Matthew the Tenth» – a written monument of 1507, which is called a treasure of biblical wisdom.

The highlight of the collection is the book «Moscow», presented by the President of the Russian Federation V.V.Putin, presenting all the beauty of the capital. Also uniquely published are the books presented to the Belarusian leader by the presidents of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Israel, books about various areas of activity of the countries – members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Mogilev and Belarus from the Nazi invaders, of interest is a selection consisting of a four-volume edition of «Memories and Reflections» by Marshal of the Soviet Union G.K. Zhukov – coordinator of the 1st and 2nd Belorussian Fronts during Operation Bagration to liberate Belarus. The magnificent gift edition was published and presented to A.G. Lukashenko by the president of the oil and gas company PJSC «NK Rosneft» I.I.Sechin.

The value and uniqueness of many editions were given by the autographs and dedications left in them, the original bindings, designer dust jackets and gift boxes. Most of the exhibited editions were made in accordance with the best examples of artistic, printing and design book design.
