Seminar «Belarus – a partisan republic»

Stills from the film «Liberation of Vitebsk», created by BGAKFFD as part of the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could», were presented to the general public on July 16 at the National Library of Belarus at the seminar «Belarus – a partisan republic».

The seminar dedicated to the partisan movement, the legendary partisans, those who brought the Great Victory closer with all their might, was organized within the framework of the information and patriotic project «The names of Heroes are immortal» and dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the triumphal parade of Belarusian partisans in Minsk on July 16, 1944.

Tatyana Buevich, Deputy Director of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region, presented unique footage (1944–1947) to the attention of the seminar participants – newsreels of the military operations for the liberation of Vitebsk, the restoration of the city destroyed and deserted during the war; footage of participants in the partisan parade in Vitebsk.

The event had a great resonance: more than 80 online connections and about 20 people present.
