Presents a document to the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa – a letter from a participant in the Great Patriotic War to his mother in the Khoiniki region

The fund of the Department of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the Khoiniki District Executive Committee contains a letter from a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Semyon Karpovich Aniskovets (1920–1944), dated November 25, 1943 (F. 13. Op. 2. D. 161. L. 5), addressed to his mother Sofia Lavrentievna Aniskovets in the village of Klivy, Zagalsky village council, Khoiniki district. In it, the author, not knowing whether the mother is alive, expresses joy at the liberation of the area from the Nazi invaders, which occurred the day before, describes his participation in the war and asks for information about relatives and friends.

On the website «Memory of the People» there is information that Semyon Aniskovets died in 1944 and was buried in Latvia. According to data from documents stored in the archive, the mother of the deceased, Sofya Aniskovets, survived the war (household book of the village of Klivy, Zagalsky village council, Khoiniki district for 1949-1951 – F. 472. Op. 3. D. 3. L. 197). Due to the insufficient amount of data about them (there are no last names and patronymics), it was not possible to find information about the fate of the other people mentioned in the letter.
