«The land is bleeding with history»: BGAMLI at the opening of a joint exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders

On May 7, 2024, employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, under the leadership of the director of the archive-museum E.A.Makarenko took part in the opening of the joint exhibition project «The Land Is Bleeding with History», jointly with the National Center for Contemporary Arts of the Republic of Belarus (NCCA), the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents (BGAKFFD) and the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities (SBEOOO), dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from German fascist invaders.

This project includes a large-scale exhibition of works of fine art, art objects, photo, audio and video materials, sculptural objects reflecting the events of the Great Patriotic War.

The director of the NCCA S.E.Krishtapovich, the directors of BGAMLI and BGAKFFD E.A.Makarenko and A.N.Gonchar, and the representative of the SBEOO A.V.Nelyubov made a welcoming speech.

In his speech, E.A.Makarenko and emphasized the importance of the work to perpetuate those who died defending the Fatherland and preserving the memory of the victims of the war, carried out by state archival institutions of Belarus and the National Center for Contemporary Arts. Massive heroism in the fight against the enemy was shown not only by the soldiers of the Red Army, but also by civilians who found themselves in the occupied territory, people who joined partisan formations and underground organizations. Preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War has always been an important direction of state policy in Belarus due to its recognition as a consolidating factor and a powerful means of patriotic education.

We do not forget the immortal feat of our heroes and their greatest sacrifice for the sake of the future.
