BGAMLI organized a film lecture for students Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts

On May 3, 2024, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, employees of the institution «Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art» (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) on the basis of the educational institution «Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts» within the framework of the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could», a film lecture was organized for 50 students of the Faculty of Information and Documentary Communications and the Faculty of Cultural Studies and Socio-Cultural Activities. During the event, the documentary film «Liberation» was shown, prepared by the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents» as part of a social advertising project designed to form and maintain universal human values in society, in the minds of people, the development of citizenship and patriotism.

Before the start of the session, the head of the department of information, publication and use of documents of BGAMLI, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Veronika Petrovna Skok addressed the audience with a historical background on the strategic offensive operation for the liberation of Belarus «Bagration», which, in terms of its design, scale, effectiveness and significance, occupies a special place and represents an important chapter in the domestic and world historiography of military art.

Leading archivist of the department of information, publication and use of documents of BGAMLI Natalya Aleksandrovna Mizon spoke about the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could», which is carried out in pursuance of the Plan for the preparation and holding of festive events for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus, approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of October 5, 2023 No.316. The footage of the unique archival chronicle is designed to demonstrate historical events and people, which descendants are rightfully proud of.

The organizers and participants of the film lecture were unanimous in their opinion that only the preservation of historical memory and historical truth will allow us to remain a united people.
