May 3, 2024, as part of the «Open Film Archive» project. We brought this day closer as best we could», in the assembly halls of state educational institutions «Gymnasium No.1 of Orsha named after G.V.Semenov» and «Gymnasium No.2 of Orsha», organized by employees of the institution «Zonal State Archives in Orsha» screening of the documentary newsreel «Liberation» (duration 44 minutes), dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents on the basis of archival newsreels.

The film restores the chronology of the liberation of Belarusian cities. Archival footage consistently shows footage of the liberation of regional centers, cities and towns of the country, which can only be seen thanks to the heroism of the operators of front-line film groups. It was they who were on the front line, next to the Red Army soldiers and partisans, and captured the bitter truth of retreats, the organization of the first partisan detachments, battles, crossings and the joy of those who were the first to set foot on the liberated land. The cost of the shot was sometimes the life of the operator: out of 258, every third died. The film also includes modern footage of honoring the memory of fallen heroes at the ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the monument on Victory Square with the participation of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko.
