The institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» conducts lessons dedicated to April 26 – the Day of the Chernobyl Tragedy

On April 26, 2024, senior researcher of the department of information, publication and use of documents of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» A.M.Drozdova conducted a series of lessons for students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.2 of Gomel named after. G.M.Sklezneva» on the topic: «April 26 – Day of the Chernobyl tragedy» within the walls of the branch library No.3 named after E.R.Romanov, Gomel.

Schoolchildren learned the history of the creation of the station, the causes of the accident and its consequences for the environment. In addition, an exhibition was launched within the walls of the library: «April 26, 1986 – Day of the Chernobyl disaster. Tragedy, feat, memory», dedicated to the Chernobyl tragedy, prepared by employees of the regional archive. The exhibition featured documents and photographs reflecting the events of the largest man-made disaster in human history. Documentary materials gave schoolchildren the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the terrible tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, its victims and consequences.

A video on the above topic was also shown to the students, and at the end of the event, a quick survey of students was conducted, where the students were able to demonstrate their knowledge of the material they had studied.
