An event dedicated to the 38th anniversary of the tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was held in the state archive of public associations of the Gomel region

On April 26, 2024, as part of the republican action «Archives to School» and the pilot project «Young Archivist», an event dedicated to the 38th anniversary of the tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was held at the institution «State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» for students of the state educational institution «Secondary school No.3 in Gomel named after D.N.Penyazkova».

During the event, archivists reminded students about the largest man-made disaster in the history of mankind of the last century, about the feat of people who showed courage and bravery in eliminating the consequences of a reactor explosion.

Stills from the video «The Tragedy of Chernobyl» and documentary materials from the archives gave the children the opportunity to clearly assess the scale of the tragedy and remember the terrible moments of the disaster.

In conclusion, the students were given a sightseeing tour of the archive, during which the children got acquainted with the exhibition of archival documents and photographs «Chernobyl accident: 38 years of history».
