Sushchevich took part in a dialogue platform dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the tragedy in the village of Khatyn, which was held on the basis of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 75 of Gomel»
On March 22, 2024, the director of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archives) A.N. Sushchevich. took part in a dialogue platform dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the tragedy in the village of Khatyn, which took place on the basis of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 75 of Gomel».
The memorable event was attended by schoolchildren and teachers of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 75 of Gomel», as well as the director of the State Academy of Arts, A.N. Sushchevich. and the cleric of the Church of the Georgian Icon of the Mother of God, Priest Nikolai.
The event was dedicated to the anniversary of a tragic event in the history of our country – the burning of the Belarusian village of Khatyn by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
During the event, they talked about the events that took place in the village of Khatyn, about the fate of its inhabitants, as well as about the memorial complex created at the site of the tragedy, and about the importance of preserving historical memory.
«The anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy is a tragedy and pain for the entire Belarusian people, expressed in hundreds of burned villages and thousands of dead civilians. Remembering the tragedy in Khatyn, we should also know and be proud that we are the descendants of a victorious people, a liberating people, because it was here, on Gomel soil, that a powerful springboard was created for Operation Bagration, from which the liberation of all of Belarus began,» – noted the director of the archive A.N. Suschevich.
As part of the event, a film lecture was held for students, developed by the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents» with a video showing.
The round table participants expanded and deepened their knowledge about the historical past of the Belarusian people, about the tragic events in Khatyn, about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
March 22 is the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Khatyn Tragedy. A date that has become for every resident of the Republic of Belarus a symbol of eternal memory, sorrow and pain. The tragedy of the burned Belarusian village is impossible and cannot be forgotten!
At the end of the event, director of the archive A. N. Suschevich. gave an interview to a correspondent of the regional newspaper Gomelskie Vedomosti.
