Presentation of the book «The Supreme Council of the BSSR of the first convocation (1938–1947)» within the framework of the XXXI Minsk International Book Fair
On March 15, as part of the XXXI Minsk International Book Fair, a presentation of the book «The Supreme Council of the BSSR of the first convocation (1938–1947)» was held, prepared by scientists from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus together with the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarus Publishing House.
On behalf of the team of authors, a leading researcher at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, a leading researcher at the Department for the Use of Documents and Information of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences Valentin Genrikhovich Mazets spoke about the process of preparing the book and the significance of the Supreme Council of the BSSR of the first convocation in the history of Belarus.
Doctor of Biological Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Nikolaevich Reshetnikov, using the example of the activities of his father, deputy Nikolai Artemovich Reshetnikov, revealed the main aspects of that heroic era in which the deputies of the Supreme Council of the first convocation had to act.
Director of the National Archives Andrei Konstantinovich Demyanyuk devoted his speech to the interaction of the archive with the Institute of History in the process of preparing the book, and also spoke about archival documents that shed light on the activities of the deputies of the Supreme Council of the BSSR of the first convocation.
The head of the department for the use of documents and information, Margarita Anatolyevna Starostenko, emphasized the extreme importance of using documents of personal origin when preparing books.
In general, the presentation of the book became a significant contribution to the dissemination of historical knowledge and awakening interest in further research into the rich historical past of the Belarusian people.
