Student practice on the basis of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus

Since March 4, 2024, on the basis of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, pre-diploma internship has been organized for 4th-year students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University in the specialties «History (in areas)» and «Historical and Archival Studies».

The main purpose of the internship is to work on diploma projects and become familiar with the areas of activity of the institution. The topics of diploma projects correspond to the period and composition of the documents that are stored in the archive. This will give trainees the opportunity to work on their theses using archival documents. Students will also be able to apply and consolidate their theoretical knowledge in practice by performing certain types of work.

Director of the archive A.K.Demyanuk delivered a welcoming speech to the students, who noted the importance of practical work in the archive.

The most experienced workers were appointed as heads of the practice: head of the department for the use of documents and information M.A.Starostenko, deputy head of the department of automated archival technologies A.A.Zhukovskaya, deputy head of the department of information retrieval systems V.Yu.Monzul.

Researcher of the publications department T.N.Ageenko conducted a tour of the archive, during which students became familiar with the history of the institution, the composition and features of storing documents, and the exhibition and publication activities of archivists. The students were also shown a video presentation of the archive.
