Conducting a lesson for students of the 9th «A» class of the Secondary School No. 12 Grodno» as part of the «Archives – School» campaign

On May 19, 2023, as part of the «Archives – School» campaign, the institution «State Archive of the Grodno Region» for students of the 9th «A» class of the Secondary School No. 12 Grodno a lesson was held on the topic «The role of archives in the preservation of historical heritage».

During the lesson, students got acquainted with the history of the State Archive of the Grodno region and the specifics of the work of archivists, learned about the main directions of the institution’s activities. The children were presented with the most valuable and unique documentary materials stored in the archive.

The employees of the archive demonstrated to the students the exhibits displayed in the reading room: «This day we approached as much as we could…», «People’s destinies. In memory of the victims of fascism», «There was a people’s war. Partisans and underground soldiers of Grodno region».

The children visited the laboratory for restoration, repair and binding of documents, where they saw firsthand the process of restoration of old and damaged documents.
