On May 27, 2023, the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation will celebrate its 55th anniversary

The archive was created on May 27, 1968 by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Byelorussian SSR No. 164 in order to centralize the selection, storage and use of scientific and technical documentation (NTD), which is of great practical, historical and cultural value for Belarus. Together with the Archive Department under the Council of Ministers of the BSSR, a selection of valuable scientific and technical documentation was organized in the leading design institutes of the country – Belgosproekt, Belgiproselstroy, Belgiprodor.

In the first six months of their work, the archive staff compiled a list of research, design and engineering organizations whose documents were to be deposited. Currently, the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation stores documents on the history of the development of science, technology, and architecture in Belarus.

This is design, engineering, research, technological, patent and other documentation, which forms 307 funds, including 217,542 storage units.

On the eve of the 55th anniversary of the archive, the staff of the information and use of documents department prepared a stationary exhibition dedicated to the history of the establishment and development of the institution.
