On May 5, 2023, a solemn meeting of the team dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the State Archive of the Gomel Region.
Deputy Director Andrei Petrovich Mitskevich spoke to the team, who noted that despite the fact that 78 years have passed since the end of the Great Patriotic War, the great feat of millions of soldiers is still alive in the minds of the people. The memory of the departed is priceless. The heroism of the victors of the Second World War cannot be estimated. We do not know all these great people by name. But what they have done cannot be measured by any material good. Even without knowing the names, our generation remembers them not only on Victory Day.
The Great Patriotic War began on June 22, 1941 and lasted for a long 4 years. The Soviet people endured a lot during the years of fascist occupation, but still they won. The people paved the road to the Victory Day with their own hands. Only thanks to his selfless work and military merits, the Soviet Union was able to win this war, although it was not easy to do so.
The staff of the archive carefully treats everything related to the Great Patriotic War.
Victory Day will forever remain the holiday that is met with bated breath and with tears in the eyes. Eternal memory to the heroes!
