International Day of Human Space Flight

April 12 is International Day of Human Space Flight (Cosmonautics Day). The date is dedicated to the first manned flight into space, which was made by Yuri Gagarin in 1961.

The theme of space was reflected in many works of Belarusian art. In the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art in the fund of the artist Mikhail Andreevich Blishch, sketches of the monumental painting «Cosmos» and «Aelita», written in the early 1960s, are stored.
