On April 10, 2023, on the eve of the 37th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the exhibition «April 26, 1986. Chernobyl is the largest environmental disaster of the 20th century», prepared by the archive staff on the basis of archival documents and photographs.

Archive workers gathered in the reading room on that day to get acquainted with the exhibition, to touch those terrible events, to feel the scale of the tragedy.

The exhibition has been prepared in order to familiarize with archival documents, which make it possible to trace in detail the events of those already distant days in the history of our region, which left a deep imprint in the minds of millions of people.

As part of the event, the archive staff received a unique opportunity not only to understand in detail what happened on April 26, 1986 in Chernobyl, how the population was evacuated to safe areas in several stages, protective measures were taken to eliminate the accident and its consequences, but also to get acquainted with new documents, reflecting the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, received for storage in the archive.
