On participation in the Diplomatic and Peacekeeping Iftar meeting at the Minsk Cathedral Mosque
April 6, 2023 Representatives of the National Historical Archives of Belarus – Deputy Director Maxim Makarov and Leading Archivist of the Department of Information Retrieval Systems Alyona Lyubaya – at the invitation of the Mufti of the Muslim Religious Association in the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian Public Association of Tatars «Zikr ul-Kitab» Abu-Bekir Yukhyanovich Shabanovich took part in the Diplomatic and Peacekeeping Iftar meeting, organized as part of the I International Forum named after Imam Shamil in the Minsk Cathedral Mosque.
Within the framework of the event, a round table «The Muslim world and the Slavic world – a centuries-old union and the foundation of traditional values at the heart of modern civilization» was held, which was attended by the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and other countries in the Republic of Belarus, state and public figures, sports figures, priests of world religions. In her speech, the leading archivist of the NIA of Belarus Alena Lyubaya told the audience about more than 500 years of the history of the Muslim community of Minsk and the history of the Minsk mosque, and also emphasized that for centuries Belarus has remained a country where representatives of various peoples and different faiths lived peacefully, and all they had opportunities for free development and creative work. During the event, the guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the exhibition exposition of the Museum of Islam in Belarus.
Such meetings contribute to interfaith dialogue and consolidation of the Belarusian society, which is of particular importance in the Year of Peace and Creation declared in the Republic of Belarus.
