Meeting of archivists of the institution «State archive of public associations of the Gomel region» with students of the 7th grade of the state educational institution «Gymnasium N10 of Gomel» on the eve of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Gomel from Nazi invaders

On the eve of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders, on November 23, 2022, a meeting of archivists with students of the 7th grade of the state educational institution «Gymnasium No. 10 of Gomel» was held on the basis of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region».

As part of the «Archives for School” campaign, to broaden the horizons and increase students’ interest in the history of the Great Patriotic War, archivists held a historical and educational quiz “Little-known facts from the history of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.”

In addition, a visit to the exhibition of archival documents and photographs «They defended Gomel in the first months of the Great Patriotic War» was organized for students, and a video clip «Liberation of the city of Gomel» was shown.

At the end of the event, the schoolchildren got acquainted with the originals of the personal files of the members of the Gomel People’s Militia Regiment, which are permanently stored in the state archive, and learned about the main areas of the archive’s work during a sightseeing tour of the archive.
