The 100th anniversary of the archival service of Belarus was celebrated in the Vitebsk region

On October 14, 2022, a solemn event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the archival service of Belarus was held at the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic.

The event was attended by 360 people.

Present were Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov, Head of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Grigory Zholnerkevich, Head of the Main Department of Justice of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Sergey Konopelko, Head of the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Petr Podgursky, Deputy Head of the Main Department – Head of the Public Relations Department and interaction with the media of the main department of ideological work and youth Affairs Anatoly Gutsulyak, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Public Association «Belarusian Republican Youth Union» Vladimir Babichev, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of State and Other Institutions Elena Nefyodova and others.

Veterans of the archival service and the main department of justice of the Vitebsk regional executive committee, holders of funds of personal origin, whose documents were transferred to the state archives of the region for permanent storage, were invited to the event.

The event was covered by media representatives with the largest audience in the region: the regional newspaper «Vitebskie Vesti», the newspaper «Vitbichi», the television and radio company «Vitebsk».

Before the start of the solemn event, there was an exhibition zone, within the framework of which 6 exhibitions were presented, of which 2 were virtual and 4 were traditional.

Virtual exhibitions were dedicated to the Honorary Archivists of the Vitebsk Region and the history of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region.

Traditional exhibitions (publications of the state archives of the Vitebsk region; a general exhibition of documents from funds of personal origin and a separate exhibition dedicated to the Vitebsk poet, active public figure David Simanovich; materials on the holding of the First Festival «Slavianski Bazaar» in Vitebsk in 1992) were placed in a separate hall.

In the same hall, within the framework of the Year of Historical Memory, the exhibition «Tradytsyny kastsyum – the honor of the nation» was presented. The exhibition was a gift to the archives for the anniversary from the acquisition source – State Institution «Vitebsk Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art». The curator of the exhibition is Nina Bobrovich. Within the framework of the event, a meeting was organized with the authors of the publication «Traditional clothes of Vitebsk region», which formed the basis of the collection of costumes and was also presented at the exhibition: Galina Bobrovich, Associate Professor of the Department of Arts and Crafts and Technical Graphics, Associate Professor of the Department of Fine Arts, Candidate of Art History Lyudmila Vakar, an employee of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore Svetlana Solovyova.
