The State Archives of Minsk Region held an Open Doors Day timed to the 100th anniversary of the Archival Service of Belarus

On September 12, 2022 the State Archives of Minsk Region opened its doors to everybody interested in history, genealogy, confirmation of the property and social-legal rights. Among the visitors to the archives were the students of the Minsk State Regional College, the employees of the Minsk Regional Notaries’ Chamber and the 1st year students of the History Department of the Belarusian State University.

The guests were welcomed by the Deputy Director for Organizational and Methodological Work Marina Klimovich. During the brief excursion the visitors were informed about the history of the archive, its fonds and valuable collections, visited the archival repository. The guests learned about the main activities of the institution, about the exhibition and publication work. They also visited the banner exhibition devoted to the 100th anniversary of the archival service “ARCHIVES AND TIME: preserving the past for the sake of the future” and the banner exhibition “Without Statute of Limitations”. In the reading room everyone could get advice on genealogical research and view the historical-documentary exhibition “955 Years to Minsk!”.

The events held by the Minsk Regional Archives in the framework of the Open Doors Day and timed to the 100th anniversary of the Archival Service of Belarus aroused great interest among all visitors. Nowadays, the value of information stored in the archives is still great, as is the role of those who collect it and ensure its preservation.
