The Belarusian Archives of Film and Photo Documents took part in the International Conference on Film Studies and Archiving in the Field of Cinema held in Moscow

On 23-24 June 2022, an International Conference on Film Studies and Archiving in the Field of Cinema was held in Moscow. The conference discussed the tasks of film archives, new challenges of the profession of a film specialist, practices of working with archival materials, experience of archival film demonstration, preservation and representation of collections of regional archives, accessibility of digital era works to future generations, general principles of digital technical restoration, and textology.

The chief keeper of the collections of the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings A. K. Kot, together with representatives of the profile archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Armenia, took part in the panel discussion «Film Collections in the CIS Countries: present and Future». In her speech, A. K. Kot described the archive collections, shared her experience in issues of preservation of film documents, enrichments of collections, options for popularization of archival materials, and participation of the archives of the Republic of Belarus in the State Program «Digital Development of Belarus for 2021-2025». A. K. Kot also answered questions for an article in the culture magazine «Diletant». The purpose of the publication is to reveal the topic of film heritage in the CIS countries.

The international conference provided an opportunity for scholars, archivists, curators, researchers, filmmakers, students and film enthusiasts to gather and discuss contemporary professional issues in the field of audiovisual heritage.
