Director of the State Archives of Brest Region took part in the Remembrance Day on the topic “The Genocide in Belarus”

On March 10, 2022, A. G. Karapuzova, director of the State Archives of Brest Region, took part in the event “Day of Remembrance” on the theme “The Genocide in Belarus” organized by the Brest Regional Library named after M. Gorky as part of the Month of historical and legal knowledge “Legal Spring” timed to the Year of Historical Memory.

Among the participants were 1st and 2nd year law students of the Pushkin Brest State University and students of the Brest State Professional Lyceum of Railway Transport (more than 60 people).

The director of the Archives told the audience about the documents of the German occupation administration in 1941-1944, the documents of the Extraordinary State Commission for Establishing and Investigating the Nazi Crimes and Damage in Brest Region, which serve as a valuable source to study the history of Brest Region during the occupation.

The event included an exhibition of archival documents entitled “Tragic pages of the Occupation regime in Brest Region: the documents testify…”.

I. M. Gracheva, senior assistant prosecutor of Brest Region, delivered the information “On the progress of the criminal investigation into the genocide of the inhabitants of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War and the postwar period”.

The regional library has presented an exhibition of literature “Genocide in Belarus. The Memory doesn’t Die” from the library’s collection.
