Meeting with a combat veteran, internationalist soldier, reserve colonel Dmitry Kravets, dedicated to the history of the Afghan War and the Internationalist Soldiers Remembrance Day
On February 14, 2022, on the eve of the 33rd anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the staff of the Main Department of Justice, territorial bodies of compulsory enforcement of the Grodno region, the Grodno branch of “BelYurObespechenie”, representatives of the Grodno Regional Bar Association, the staff of the State Archives of Grodno Region met with a participant of military operations, dedicated to the history of the Afghan War and the Internationalist Soldiers Remembrance Day – “Living Legend”. A soldier-internationalist, reserve colonel Dmitry Kravets spoke about the events of those years and the fulfillment of his international duty. “Across the river” in the early 1980s as part of the 56th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade, he was the commander of a firing platoon, and then a battery of D-30 howitzers. A third of the hundred-year history of the Armed Forces Dmitry Kravets marched in the military ranks, and completed his service as Chief of Missile Troops and Artillery of the Western Operational Command. After retirement, the veteran for many years headed the regional structure of DOSAAF, and today continues to contribute to the sacred mission of preserving and passing the glorious military and labor traditions to the new generation.
Dmitry Kravets called on everyone to appreciate life under a peaceful sky, to be equal to the courageous and brave people, patriots of their homeland, to keep the memory of the heroes of that terrible war.
